I'd love to be the new Oprah : Alesha Dixon

SHE’S already had major chart success and used her fabulous pins to dance her way to glory on TV’s Strictly Come Dancing.

But not content with using her body and voice to impress, Alesha Dixon has a new goal — to be taken seriously.

The singer, currently heading for the top five in the charts thanks to downloads of new single The Boy Does Nothing, says she loves talking about weighty issues such as politics and racism.

And it seems she has top backing — the PM this week called her a “national treasure” after she was invited to breakfast with Sarah Brown.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Alesha says: “I think I’ve got a lot to offer. I’d love to do a show like Oprah Winfrey — there’s not really an equivalent in the UK.

“I could do it because I definitely have the passion.

“I went on This Week with Diane Abbott and Michael Portillo.

“The younger generation wouldn’t normally tune in to something like that but maybe they would if there were younger people on the panel.

“And I was asked to go on a radio show the other day to talk about politics. They even played my single. I didn’t ask them to — I just really wanted to get some stuff off my chest and have a bit of a debate. I was buzzing afterwards!
